Khotan is an embroidery of jewelled 'ikat' style motifs embroidered onto 100% linen stripe groundsThis embroidered ikat stripe design is inspired from the Ikat woven textile art of Uzbekistan. The forms taken from various Ikat textiles have been simplified contemporized and have been arranged in a panel led layout to give an exciting stripe look. Each panel of colour has been appliqued to create the stripe fabric prior to creating the embroidered design; the embroidery stitches resemble the effect of the fine woven ikat weave - rich embroidery threads emulate the silk fabric & contrast to the linen stripes.
