Nina Campbell Ltd turns 50
September 2021 marks a huge milestone as we celebrate our 50th anniversary.

In the Beginning
Nina started the business in 1971 following early career experiences which nurtured her love of both interior design and home accessorising...Her first job with the General Trading Company in Sloane Square ignited a passion for china, glass and accessories which would play out later when Nina opened her first shop with her friend, restaurant owner and Annabel’s founder, Mark Birley...a shop specialising in unashamed luxury; wonderful things you couldn’t find here that they would find on their various travels, some of which we still have today in our shop on Walton Street.
Following the General Trading Company Nina went to work for with Sibyl Colefax and John Fowler where she ended up assisting John Fowler, this was a hugely pivotal moment in her career. It was here she was fully immersed in English Interior Design. After a few years Nina left to work on her own, she then met Mark Birley who had set up Annabel’s in 1963. She was asked by Mark to help with a few things at Annabel’s which led to her designing Marks Club for him among various other things and a long friendship and working relationship soon formed.
From Strength to Strength
From here Nina’s career went from strength to strength, she eventually opened her own shop on Walton Street (just a few doors down from where we are today) and began to have a number of commissions from people to design their houses.
In the late 80’s Nina formed a license with Osborne & Little which to this day remains a wonderful collaboration producing annual fabric, wallpaper and trimmings collections.
Nina Campbell Today
The interior design department has become a truly global business working on a number of exciting projects at home and abroad, both residential and commercial, all with Nina at the helm...from England to the USA, China Jordan, Australia and Europe there is an exciting list of projects far and wide that are in motion at the moment.
In 2010 Nina’s furniture collection was launched, what started as a small collection filling gaps when Nina couldn’t find what she was looking for sourcing for clients this is now a full-scale collection of upholstery, metal furniture, wooden furniture and lighting. Often inspired by an antique piece or something she has inherited or found, pieces are adapted and re-designed by Nina and always display a fine attention to detail as well as a sense of fun or the unexpected in the piece. All furniture is made in England by the finest craftsmen, something Nina is truly passionate about.
Nina has also published seven books in Interior design with the next in the planning now...There is no stopping our indomitable force which is Nina. While the 50th anniversary is something to sing about, we know Nina shows no signs of slowing down and we have many projects in motion and in the pipeline, which will keep us busy for the next few years and beyond!
Family First
The retail side of the business is run with Nina by two of her 3 children; Max and Alice. This is all run from Walton Street, the true home of Nina Campbell. Here we sell home accessories and gifts, both those designed by Nina and those curated and sourced by Nina. From our well-loved china and glassware to table linens, home fragrance, desk accessories, photograph frames, wash bags, jewellery boxes Walton Street is a treasure trove of beautiful things.
